Those in D.C. today (aka PopShocker and a whole mess of people not used to earthquakes) were treated to a surprise in the form of a 5.9 earthquake today that originated in the Central Virginia area. The shocks of this quake were definitely felt all the way up to NYC and down into North Carolina. Others as far as Boston are also claiming to have felt the quake. While this kind of natural behavior might be "old-hat" for West Coasters, those of us on the East Coast are still buzzing from the craziness. Buildings (The Pentagon, White House, etc.) were evacuated, schools have been closed, crazy behavior has ensued... and yes, while it definitely was a little crazy given that nothing like that happens out here... some of us are making a little too big a deal out of it.
